Dear Beacon Hill Families – Happy first day of school!
Strong Start Days (Sept 4th-11th)
September 4-11 are “strong start” days focused on social emotional learning and setting students up for a successful start. You will find more detailed information about strong start plans from your child’s classroom teachers. Teachers are providing 2 hours of instruction each day. The rest of the day is dedicated to family meetings, teacher planning, and staff professional development.
First full day of remote learning
Monday, September 14th is the first full day of remote learning. Students will start the day with live learning on the computer at 8:30am for their class community building time.
Technology Pick-up
Next week on Tuesday September 8th and Wednesday September 9th we will be distributing tablets and laptops to all students. During your designated time slot please come to the front of the school – there will be a line with cones 6 feet apart for social distancing – please wear a mask.

If you are not able to come during your designated time you can ask someone to pick up the tech for you or come to the school and ring the bell either day between 4-5pm.
If none of these options work for you please talk to your child’s teacher to arrange another time.
The school will also be providing supplies for students to use at home. These will be distributed in the next few weeks.
Communicating with school during the building closure
Our school building is closed during remote learning unless arrangements have been made for specialized activities like IEP services that must happen in person and evaluations. If you need to speak to someone at school you can contact your students’ teachers or call (206) 252-2705 and leave a message in any language.
Childcare for the 2020-2021 School Year
Launch currently has space available at Beacon Hill. Launch is a Seattle-based nonprofit that has been providing high quality preschool, before & after school, and summer programs for children ages 3-12 over 40 years. Launch knows many parents need care for their children while they’re at work, so they are offering full-day programs onsite at Beacon Hill from 8am-6pm starting Tuesday, September 8th.

There is additional full day childcare options for children in elementary school (5-12 yrs old) through Seattle parks and recreation

Attendance
Attendance will be taken each school day and will be flexible for students who are engaging in schoolwork each day
- Absences will be excused when there are:
- Student/family health issues
- Students caring for family members
- Lack of necessary tools (Internet service or devices)
- Parent work schedules preventing students from connecting
- Engaging in schoolwork includes:
- Daily logins
- Interactions with teachers
- Evidence of participation in a task or assignment
Grading
SPS info re: Elementary Grading
Students will receive their elementary progress reports with standards markings of 1, 2, 3, or 4 and teacher comments included for each subject covered during the trimester.
- If a teacher cannot provide standards-based grading, they will include teacher comments for each subject area.
- Students receiving special education services will receive elementary progress reports for all trimesters, along with their IEP goal reports
We will provide more information about grades and progress reports as we continue to develop systems for authentic feedback with students and families.

2020-2021学年的 Childcare

Estimadas familias de Beacon Hill– ¡Feliz primer día de escuela!
Gran inicio (Strong Start) Septiembre 4 al 11
Del 4 al 11 de septiembre serán los días del “Gran Inicio” (Strong Sart). Estarán enfocados en el aprendizaje socioemocional y en preparar a los estudiantes para un comienzo exitoso. En ellos encontrará información más detallada sobre los planes para un inicio sólido de parte de los maestros de clase de sus hijos. Los maestros brindarán 2 horas de instrucción cada día. El resto del día se dedicará a conferencias familiares, planificación y desarrollo profesional del personal.
Primer día de aprendizaje a larga distancia
El lunes 14 de septiembre es el primer día de aprendizaje a larga distancia. Los estudiantes comenzarán el día con aprendizaje en vivo en la computadora a las 8:30 am para aprender el desarrollo de la comunidad en clase.
Distribución de accesorios tecnológicos
La próxima semana, el martes 8 de septiembre y el miércoles 9 de septiembre, distribuiremos tabletas y computadoras portátiles a todos los estudiantes. Asistencia
La asistencia se tomará cada día escolar y será flexible para los estudiantes que participan en el trabajo escolar todos los días.
- Las ausencias serán justificadas cuando hay:
- Problemas de salud del estudiante / familia
- Estudiantes que cuiden a miembros de la familia
- Falta de herramientas necesarias (servicio o dispositivos de Internet)

- La participación en el trabajo escolar incluye:
- Inicios de sesión diarios
- Interacciones con profesores
- Evidencia de participación en una tarea o asignación
Calificaciones
Información de SPS sobre: Las calificación de primaria
Los estudiantes recibirán sus calificaciones de la escuela primaria en formato estándar de 1, 2, 3 o 4 y los comentarios de los maestros se incluirán por cada materia cubierta durante el trimestre.
- Si un maestro no puede proporcionar una calificación basada en estándares, incluirá sus respectivos comentarios.
- Los estudiantes que reciben servicios de educación especial, recibirán informes de su progreso en cada uno de los trimestres, junto con sus informes y metas de IEP.
