Seattle Public Schools assigns students to a school by home address. If you live outside the Beacon Hill International attendance area, you can still ask for a seat here through the district’s open enrollment process, called School Choice. We would love for you to apply.

How School Choice works
When to apply
In 2026-27, applications were open January 5 to 31, 2026. We will post the 2027-28 dates here when Seattle Public Schools publishes them.
Rank your choices
List up to five schools in order. Your child is placed at the first school on your list with an open seat. If none have room, they join the waitlist for your top choice, so put us first if we are your first choice.
Late applications
After the main window, applications are accepted through March 31, but they are not eligible for tiebreakers. Waitlists run until May 31.
How seats are offered
When more families ask for a school than it has seats, the district looks at siblings already at the school first, then how close you live, then a lottery number.
Seats depend on space
Every assignment depends on space at the school, so list every school you would be happy with.
Option schools
Option and alternative schools have their own process.
